Alison Burns, RN, BSN, CEN, trauma director at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, has been named the South Carolina Emergency Nurse Leader of the Year by the South Carolina Emergency Nurses Association (SCENA).

The award was presented to Alison by Victoria Grainger, RN, president elect of the Coastal Carolina chapter of SCENA. “The SC Nurse Leader of the Year award exemplifies the professionalism, quality leadership, dedication and passion that Alison brings to the nursing profession and specifically to the emergency department. Alison is a role model for nurses,” said Grainger.

Alison oversees Grand Strand Regional’s Level II trauma center and also serves as the HCA South Atlantic Division trauma director. In that role, Alison assists other hospitals in SC, GA and FL, in attaining and maintaining trauma designation.
